Road to Emmaus
The Road to Emmaus happens after Jesus has died and the women discover that he is not in the tomb and he is alive! This playlist is designed to offer faith formation experiences at home! Whatever you do is enough. Choose one thing or as many as you like. Use it as family time together.
Bible Story
- Read the story about the Road to Emmaus in your favorite Story Bible or in Luke 24:13-35.
- This story about 2 disciples walking on the road to Emmaus where they are met by someone who asks about what has happened. The disciples share about the story of Jesus. When they arrive in Emmaus they invited the traveler to come and eat with them and they realize that it is Jesus!
- Wonder about the story together:
- I wonder what the 2 disciples were talking about on the road.
- I wonder what the disciples thought when they realized they had been talking with Jesus the whole time.
- I wonder what they would have told the other disciples when they found them.
- I wonder how this story can remind us that Jesus walks with us even when we don’t recognize him.
- Prayer:
- Dear God, thank you for the stories in the Bible to help us learn about you. Be with us when we are sad about things in life and when we are happy. Help us remember that you are always with us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

What Do You Do With an Idea by Kobi Yamada
Watch this story and then ask the following question: How does this story connect with the story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus?
Activities
1. Draw, paint, or color the scene from the Road to Emmaus. Make it fun with a cardboard easel! Use white paper or print one of pictures located under the cardboard easel photo to color.
2. Use the dyed Easter egg shells to create a cross mosaic. Give everyone a piece of card stock (or heavy paper), glue the eggshell pieces to the paper in the shape of a cross or whatever shape you like to remind you of Jesus and the way he walked with the disciples on the road to Emmaus.
3. Make footprint shaped sugar cookies. Talk about the story of the disciples walking on the Road to Emmaus and what happened when the “traveler” joined them. Use your favorite cookie dough. If you don’t have a footprint cookies cutter, give everyone a piece of dough to create their own footprint cookie.
