What is Rooted:Reclaim?

A day-away event designed for ministry leaders that includes space for worship, connection, learning, quiet, and play. The “Reclaim” tag refers specifically to connecting with our Wesleyan roots and exploring what it means to United Methodist today.

Who Should Attend?

Ministry Leaders, specifically those engaged in Faith Formation Ministries. We welcome lay, clergy, staff, and volunteers. Those engaged in age-level ministries, intergenerational ministries, and all-age ministries!

Tuesday, October 20
* 9:30am – 4:00pm (Snacks and Lunch are included)

Monday Night Options

For those attending the pre-event on Monday, we will gather for dinner at 6:30pm. We have secured a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express in Okemos for $102 on Monday night. Please use this booking link to make your reservation. 

If you would like to stay the night in the Lansing area without the expense of a hotel, please contact Kathy Pittenger for alternative options.

As we have listened, we hear that ministry leaders are yearning for a place to connect with God and others. Rooted is designed around worship and connection points in workshops, quiet spaces, and community. We hope the Rooted experience offers a time to connect, renew, and belong.

What Does It Mean To Be United Methodist Today?

Presenter: Rev. Jeremy Peters

This workshop invites participants to explore what it means to be United Methodist through an overview of its history, theology, beliefs, and practices, and to reflect on their own beliefs and consider how their theology shapes their ministry and daily discipleship.

Neurodiversity in Faith Formation Ministries

Presenters: Rachel Lunning & Rev. Christy Miller White

This workshop explores practical ways to create welcoming, accessible, and meaningful faith formation experiences for children, youth, and adults with neurodiverse needs. Participants will leave with strategies to foster understanding and belonging in the life of the church.

Ministry With Volunteers

Presenters: TBA

This workshop will explore ministry with volunteers – from job descriptions to invitation to onboarding and training to celebration to ending well. Participants will leave with practical ideas and resources that can be implemented right away.
