Rev. Kathy Renewal Leave

Friends,

This year, I have an opportunity to take a renewal leave for the purpose of study, renewal, and spiritual growth. I will be on vacation and leave starting on July 29. During my renewal leave, I will be investing in my spiritual growth (reading, journaling, spiritual practices), continuing my study toward an MBA in Nonprofit Administration for Ministry Leaders, studying current faith formation trends, and taking time to play (with my kids, puzzles, Lego, etc.). I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to pour into myself so that I return in November with my cup pouring over with energy and new ideas. While my renewal leave ends on November 1, I have meetings the week of November 4 and will officially be back in the office the week of November 11th.

Over the last nine months, we have implemented a new children’s ministry leadership model in the Michigan Conference. I am so excited about this team approach to continue and improve the ways we equip, encourage, and empower children’s ministry leaders across Michigan and beyond. The team leads, Anne Hillman (resources/curation), Susan Adam-Rita (Kids Min Zooms), Rachel McCollum (Regional Networking), and Maddy Martinson (Communication), will continue to lead their respective areas and are available to support you. The Facebook group will continue to be a platform for you to ask questions, share resources, celebrate wins, and find support. The resource/curation team is working on updating fall resources and will have curated resources and ideas ready as you plan for Advent/Christmas. Watch the e-newsletter for updates, or visit the children’s ministry website.

The 2024 cohorts will continue as scheduled, led by Sherry Stone and Erica Kozlowski. Information about a Fall Mini-Cohort led by Sherry Stone and 2025 cohorts will be coming soon.

Protection Policy questions—We encourage you to use the Local Church Protection Policy webpage, which will answer many of your questions. You can also ask questions in the Facebook group or contact Rachel McCollum, the regional networking team lead. If there is a crisis or emergency, contact your pastor and district superintendent.

Thank you for your grace and support as I take time to care for myself spiritually, physically, intellectually, and emotionally. I am planning to attend the Kids Min Zoom on July 24th. My last day in the office is July 26th. I am available to respond to your questions or for conversation through 7/26. After that, I’ll see you in November!!

Blessings,

Kathy
